Norma Khouri's book taken off Australian shelves

The Australian publishers of Norma Khouri's controversial book Forbidden Love have withdrawn the book from sale and advised booksellers to do the same.

Random House Australia said yesterday that the book would not be available for sale again until it had been assured by Khouri that it was a true representation of her life and experiences.

The book, which details abuse and hardship during the time Khouri said she grew up in Jordan, contains claims that are untruthful, the Sydney Morning Herald said in an article at the weekend.
