A former Muslim cleric backed by the Kremlin is set for a sweeping win in a presidential vote in Chechnya, but many observers doubt the result will bring peace to Russia's rebel region.
Preliminary results show Akhmad Kadyrov won 82.5 per cent of the 52.85 per cent of votes counted from yesterday's poll in war-devastated Chechnya.
