Ethan Clarke, 22, has been charged with the murder of his brother, 26-year-old Reece Clarke, after allegedly dousing him with petrol and setting him alight.
The incident reportedly happened about 1.30am on Saturday morning, at the brothers' home in Nerang on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Reece was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital but, according to the Daily Mail, later died in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
The Courier Mail reports that both parents are in hospital, after they desperately tried to put out the fire.
"It will be alleged that the fire was an intentional act of throwing petrol on someone and setting them on fire," Nerang police detective Senior Sergeant Mark Procter said, quoted by the Daily Mail.
"It's an horrific event. The burns (suffered by the victim) were as bad as you could get."
Ethan Clarke was arrested around 5.30am in Brisbane.
He is a former Gold Coast rugby league player. His brother Reece was also a talented rugby league player, having played for the Runaway Bay Seagulls.
