"Charles, Charles. Have you pressurised the police for not investigating Andrew?" the man shouts at the King during a visit to a village in Essex.

King Charles was heckled about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein during a walkabout.

During a visit with the Queen to Dedham, near Colchester, with the Queen, the monarch was asked whether his brothershould be investigated by police.

He did not appear to hear the question and did not answer as he made his way along a line of well-wishers, shaking hands.

The King and Queen were in Dedham to show support for its local pub and tea shop. They were greeted by hundreds of members of the public lining the high street.

The pair were surrounded by protection officers. Members of the royal family have previously faced questions from protesters about the former Duke of York, with the release of the Epstein files adding to public anger this week.

One man shouted questions about the Epstein scandal, imploring “justice” for the victims.

“Charles, Charles, have you pressurised the police to start investigating Andrew?” he asked, while filming on his mobile phone.

The King continued down the line of people with his security behind him and the police called the protester away.

The man, of retirement age and holding an umbrella, turned and walked off voluntarily, with officers thanking him for moving on.

A television reporter was also heard to shout a question about Epstein when the King and Queen arrived in Dedham.

The King faced heckling about his brother’s living arrangements and Epstein during a visit to Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire in October 2025.

Mountbatten-Windsor is under renewed scrutiny after his links to Epstein were further exposed in documents published by the US Department of Justice.

The files include images apparently showing the former prince crouched over an unidentified woman in what appears to be Epstein’s New York mansion.

Mountbatten-Windsor has moved out of Royal Lodge and relocated to Wood Farm, part of the King’s Sandringham estate, while he waits for renovations to his new home, Marsh Farm, to be completed.

Thames Valley Police is also assessing allegations that Epstein sent a woman to Britain for sex with Mountbatten-Windsor at Royal Lodge when she was in her 20s.

Mountbatten-Windsor is facing growing calls to testify to the US Congress about his relationship with Epstein.

JD Vance, the US vice-president, said he would support efforts to make him give evidence.

The photograph of Mountbatten-Windsor kneeling beside a young woman was printed and scattered over the pavements in Dedham overnight.

Dozens of pieces of paper bearing a black-and-white version of the image were found littered on the ground, with the words “The Royal family should not be above the law” written on the back.

Residents, including councillors, cleared them away hours before the King and Queen arrived.

Hundreds of well-wishers had turned up in the rain, with locals keen to show off their village and meet the King.

As he departed, several shouted “God Save the King” and “Hip Hip Hooray”.

Their first stop was The Sun Inn. Piers Baker, the pub’s landlord, told the King “we heard you like martinis” and presented him with a pre-mixed cocktail in a bottle to take home.

Stepping out of the pub to the sound of a town crier ringing a bell and announcing them, the King and Queen were greeted with a sea of waving Union flags and cheers.

The King and Queen also met groups of “community heroes” from organisations ranging from a domestic abuse charity to a “Money Confidence” programme.

The pair watched a performance by children from Dedham Primary School and went to the Essex Rose Teahouse, which dates back to the 16th century.
