LONDON - New revelations about the Princess of Wales' love affair with British cavalry officer James Hewitt are expected to be in a book by Hewitt due to be published later this year.
An American magazine said the book will allege that Hewitt, and not Prince Charles, is the father of Diana's younger son, Prince Harry.
The revelations are thought to be based mainly on the love letters Diana wrote to Hewitt during their five-year affair, which began in 1985, Britain's Sunday Telegraph reported.
Buckingham Palace was yesterday said to be deeply concerned about the new claims, fearing the revelations would distress Princes William and Harry, who will mark the second anniversary of their mother's death this week.
Hewitt's book was the subject of a frenzied bidding war between British tabloids the Mail on Sunday and the News of the World. The Mail is believed to have won after offering sterling 500,000 ($1,571,000).
Palace officials were trying to head off publication of the claims, with lawyers possibly considering an injunction against the newspaper for breaching Diana's copyright on the letters, the Telegraph said. - NZPA
