Gunman barricaded in Florida hospital

A gunman has barricaded himself inside a hospital in Florida.

Police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez says the gunman fired shots at Palm Bay Hospital in Brevard County, about 90km east of Orlando, and then barricaded himself in a room, Fox News reported.

Martinez says there are no injuries and the gunman is alone.

SWAT team members and a crisis negotiation team are at the hospital.

Police officers don't yet know who the suspect is or why he fired the shots.
