Could WikiLeaks Julian Assange run for Australian parliament?

WikiLeaks website founder Julian Assange wants to run for a seat in the Australian Senate.

The details of which seat have yet to be revealed but WikiLeaks has also announced it's looking for a candidate to take on Prime Minister Julia Gillard in Victoria.

Assange is in the UK on bail awaiting news of the British Supreme Court decision on his appeal against possible extradition to Sweden, where he's wanted for questioning over alleged sexual assaults in 2010.

WikiLeaks says that won't stop him running for the senate.
