Boy estranged from mother over sex with teacher

A Melbourne teenager whose former teacher escaped jail over their sexual relationship says he has failed to reconcile with his mother over the affair.

Former teacher Karen Louise Ellis, 37, was given a 22-month jail sentence, wholly suspended, after pleading guilty to six counts of sexual penetration with a child under 16.

The charges relate to a six-week relationship with the boy, who was 15 at the time of the offences last year.

The boy has since left school and lives with his grandparents.

He told radio station 3AW he had asked his mother if he could move back home and "she said no ... so there's not much more I can do, mate. It's not my decision".
