Alleged Bondi drug dealer busted by police after woman interrupts roadside stop

An alleged drug dealer became unstuck during a police roadside stop when a woman interrupted and asked if she could buy cocaine from the driver.

Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command posted about the incident on Facebook.

Officers said plain-clothed detectives intercepted the 26-year-old man's car along Gould Street, a one-way road in Bondi, after he was allegedly spotted using his mobile phone and driving the wrong way just before midnight on April 20.

"While speaking to the nervous driver who kept fidgeting with his phone, a woman also approached the vehicle and interrupted detectives' conversation," police said.

Police claim she told them she needed to speak to the driver because she wanted to buy cocaine.

"Excuse me. Can I speak to the driver? I need to speak to him," the woman allegedly said.

The plain-clothed Detective asked why, and she allegedly replied: "we're buying cocaine".

It is alleged she had messages on her phone, organising the drug deal.

Police will allege the driver then began "fanatically disposing plastic packaging down the side of his seat".

Police searched the car and allegedly found eight bags of cocaine and $3100 in cash.

The Guildford man was charged with disobeying a one-way sign, dealing with the proceeds of crime, supplying a prohibited drug and driving a motor vehicle while disqualified.

He will front Waverley Local Court next month.
