What's so good about this place? Attentive staff, incredible views over the turquoise Fijian sea, the perfect beach that you often get all to yourself, and an impressive local reef, complete with resident moray eel.
And the bad? The minibar was a bit basic and you only get 400MB internet per device per day. But you are in the middle of nowhere so it's kind of understandable. Other than that, there wasn't much else to complain about. If I'm being picky, the cushions on the sun loungers were a bit stained and happy hour isn't much of a happy hour. Cocktails are $24.50 instead of $30, for example.
What's in the neighbourhood? Not a lot. The five-star resort is the only place to stay on Naukacuvu Island.
Toiletries: Pure Fiji bathroom amenities. That meant I smelled like coconuts all week, which is only a good thing in my mind.
Food and drink: Some of the best we had during our two-week stay in Fiji. The coconut cream prawns on the lunch menu were tremendous but the pork belly I had for dinner one evening was even more delectable. The breakfast menu is also excellent, and I can vouch for the eggs benedict and breakfast burrito.
The bed: A four-poster decorated with white drapes and pretty red flowers for your arrival.
A room with a view? Oh my God, yes. One of the most stunning views I've ever had from a room.
Bathroom: Big and outside but private.
Free Wi-Fi? Yes, but as mentioned it's capped at 400MB a day.
Noise: Just the sound of the waves. We could also hear staff singing every time they greeted someone off the island, which became ever so slightly tedious.
Room service: In-room dining for one and two bedroom villas is available but it's not free.
You can also arrange to have a personal chef prepare a barbecue or a seafood buffet on your balcony but you need to book that 24 hours in advance.
The bottomline: A lovely little resort where the levels of service exceed Fiji's normal standards.
