What was your greatest holiday?
I finished my two-year OE with a week in Puglia - the rural, unspoiled heel of the Italian boot. We stayed in a "trulli", a traditional stone cottage shaped like an igloo, thousands of which are dotted around the landscape. Amazing memories of romantic, friendly, foodie Europe.
And the worst?
I booked a week on the Gold Coast without realising I'd picked "Schoolies" week - where every 17-year-old in Australia descends on Surfer's Paradise to drink, make noise and throw water bombs at visiting New Zealanders.
If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?
Eating. I try to fit in five meals a day on holiday, getting recommendations for the next restaurant from the staff of the restaurant I'm in.
What's your dream destination?
I'd like to say somewhere I haven't been ... Africa, India or South America. But it's back to Europe - beautiful, food-obsessed, stylish Europe.
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
Picked up a rental car from the wrong company. I ended up paying for that one - and the other one I'd pre-booked - for two weeks until I dropped it off and realised my mistakes. Expensive rental car.
What will you always have in your hand luggage?
Ear plugs.
Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...
... worrying about missing a big news story back home.
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
A big lump of bottarga - salted fish roe - from Sicily. I shaved it over pasta for the next six months.
Favourite airport to land at?
Marseilles, the gateway to Provence. Does that sound pretentious enough? Okay then, Hamilton.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
Marlborough. With a new job plus a 2-year-old and one more on the way, I've put long-haul trips temporarily on hold - a great chance for some mini-breaks into parts of New Zealand I don't know well enough.
