Yesterday's Feilding Prime Sale may have been a "short week" sale but plenty of lambs were yarded - approaching 5000.
Though there appeared to be few buyers, sale prices continued to firm for medium-weight prime lambs by $2-3/head and the heaviest lambs stayed steady on last week.
These are the headline lambs, with AR Horton selling 25 for $161 and exactly 200 lambs sold for over $150/head but those medium lambs, generally ewe lambs, is where the cents/kg paid lifts perceptibly.
The proportion of medium-weighted lambs overall was slightly higher than last week.
Store lambs also continued to sell for firm demand and at better levels than the Friday store sale but most are forward store and not in need of much finishing.
Ewe numbers were reduced. Scanning is not bringing big numbers out, which may suggest most early ewes are in lamb.
