Computer graphics experts from around the world are working on a $20 million TV series being filmed at Avalon Studios in Lower Hutt.
Dark Knight, based on Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe, uses as much computer-generated imagery in a single episode as in a full feature film, says producer Phil Wallbank. Its sword-and-sorcery stories involve a myriad of legendary creatures.
Wellington company Sector 14 has imported "extremely talented, high-end computer people" to work on the show, a co-production of TVNZ and Britain's Channel 5.
The 13-part series, featuring a mix of local and overseas actors, will premiere in October in Britain. TVNZ has yet to set a screening date.
