Stratford High School vs Taita College
Having billeted and fed the Taita boys we all knew they were hungry for success on the rugby field as well.
Their forward pack was of considerable size and we were all hopingtheir centre had the wrong number on his jersey, turns out the one was supposed to be in front of the three.
The High School boys weren't going to let that worry them as they tackled in pairs and the bigger they are the harder they fall this started to let us get into the game. Taita pushed over for three tries, unconverted Stratford High School played smart picking up 2 penalties and running in 2 tries to Michael and Mathew in the backs with Nick converting 20-15 to win. A big effort by the whole team with plenty of bumps and bruises to show for it.
Saturday and away to Coastal for Central First XV running out winners 55-10. Seven well taken tries in the backs. Getting quality go forward ball from the forward pack helped the speedy backs score. With all reserves coming on in the second half after having played earlier helped cover tiredness from the mid-week game.
