Trans-tasman axemen will be demonstrating a range of world class wood chopping talent later this month at a free event in Stratford.
The Empire Hotel will be hosting the eight-man Australian Wood Chopping team on November 25 for a twilight meeting including a demonstration of their skill alongside members of the Taranaki Axemen Club.
Shirley Connors, secretary of the Taranaki Axemen Club, says the meeting will "showcase some of the best wood chopping and sawing talent in the world with world title holders Shane and Jack Jordan".
Shirley says a highlight of the competition will be father and son double-handed sawing duo David and Steven Foster in the Australian team. "Steven has 186 world titles to his name and is fantastic to watch compete."
The New Zealand and Australian Wood Chopping teams are going head to head in a three part series throughout November, the first competition of its kind to be held in Taranaki. Shirley says the twilight meeting will be a great opportunity for the public to see the axemen right before they head into the final competition, to be held at the Stratford A&P Show.
