WHAT happens to your cat when you go away on holiday or business?
Well, now they can stay at central Taranaki's newest cattery - Purring Cat Cattery and locals are welcome to book now for Christmas.
Owners Tiffany and Garry Hill have spent many hours creating a high standard, secure, and comfortable
cattery and aim to be the best in New Zealand.
The Hill family are opening the catteries doors and welcome locals to come and visit them this Sunday, December 6, from 11am-3pm.
The Purring Cat Cattery has 10 pens, which can comfortably hold two cats in each. The pen's are purpose-built and exceed USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Each pen has been created to specifically suit the needs of a cat – there are no communal areas and each pen is quiet, fully insulated and heated, has height variations and stress free.
Each pen has its own secured outside enclosure – which also offers great garden views in a peaceful rural setting. This is accessible to the cat 24-hours a day.
A few pens will also be interlinked so if locals have three or four cats they will be able to interact with each other just like at home.
Tiffany said she has gone to great lengths to design the perfect cattery that suits every cats needs.
Tiffany is a qualified veterinary nurse and said the cattery has been a dream of hers since 1989.
Tiffany is originally from the United Kingdom and spent many years in England perfecting her skills. She has over 20 years experience as a vet nurse.
She has looked after cats with specials needs and has also helped carry out cattery inspections for local councils.
While in the UK she was also in charge of an animal care team, which included rescue and rehabilitation.
Tiffany also has additional qualifications in animal behaviour.
"I love cats, they are great and with this specially-built cattery I will be able to give every cat lots of time, attention and fuss in a state-of-the-art environment."
Tiffany and Garry came to New Zealand six years ago and have two daughters Charlotte and Ellena and enjoy their country lifestyle.
The couple would like to thank all of their friends, family and local businesses that helped them turn their dreams into reality. A special thanks goes out to Kevin Craig, Andy and Claire Best, Ruth and Lindsey Taunt, Sean Puttock, John Dazley and all of the local contractors – Groundworkx, Bedrock Contracting, Aluminium Solutions, Alco Construction, ITM Stratford, Mitre 10, Paper Plus, Rod Gordon, B Creative, Abstract Signs and more…
