The Stratford roundabout on Regan Street shook with the beat of 18 feet strumming the Harlem Shake last Friday night with much support from onlookers and passing motorists' hooting.
Friends Alex and Kurt Patterson, Cody Chard, Jason Craig, Terrance Sayers, Ollie Radich, Michael McKinlay, Jason Pepper and Jade Goble decided
to join the throng of Harlem shakers worldwide strutting the popular dance moves in unusual places, after a friend sent Michael a link to a video on YouTube.
They first tried the dance in the rugby club's gym, then decided to take it public. They donned "silly costumes" and staked the roundabout for the 37sec snippet. They were there for only four to five minutes but their video, by Tuesday afternoon, had already attracted more than 10,100 views, which started skyrocketing after MoreFM talked about it and posted a link on its website.
Michael, his friends say, is always "up to something funny".
"It looked pretty good. We decided to join the craze," says Michael.
