Stratford High School students dug deep into their pantries last week to help fill the shelves of the Stratford Community Foodbank.
Wendy Walker, assistant principal, says the school does this every year.
"We recognise that this is a tough time of the year for many families in our community."
While senior students are sitting their NCEA exams, junior students have a mufti day and each student brings in an item for the foodbank. Wendy says that each year the school has students take the donation to the Foodbank themselves so that they can see how important the gifts are.
Year nine student Zenavi Hawe says he was happy to be doing the heavy lifting and unloading all the donations at the Stratford Foodbank.
