A Stratford man has admitted 15 charges of possessing objectionable material when he appeared in the Hawera District Court today.
Wayne Kerry Sowerby (44) of Stratford, entered guilty pleas to the 15 charges which all related to the possession of images and videos, many featuring young children.
Sowerby was convicted and remanded, to re-appear on January 19.
Judge Lynne Harrison ordred a pre-sentence report for that date, to consider all options including home detention. She told Sowerby that while the report would consider home detention, "I make absolutely no promises to that. Imprisonment is still an option."
The charges, which come under the films, videos and publications classifications act 1993, each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, and a fine of up to $50,000.
