Santa parade delights

There will be Santa hats, tinsel and Christmas cheer galore at this year's annual Eltham Lions Christmas parade on Friday, December 11.

Eltham Lions chairperson Matthew McDonald says while this year's parade is at a new time, it will be an event not to be missed.

"By holding the parade on a Friday night we are hoping that the timing will accommodate more families, meaning that no one will miss out on the excitment."

Matthew says there has been a good response from floats being entered in the parade. He's had a peek at some of the floats being put together "and they look amazing".

The festivities begin from 5pm on Friday night with a Christmas market.

"It is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and support the local businesses".

The parade begins at 6pm and those wanting to be involved should be on Stanners Street by 5pm to be ready for judging from 5.30.

"Those wanting to be a part of the parade need to check in and be judged for the competition."

Eltham Lions Christmas parade is on Friday, December 11 from 6pm. The Christmas market will be open from 5pm.
