With Christmas looming, the year is winding down for the Stratford Lions Club, but it has still been a very busy November and December with both projects and social events.
Our major fundraiser - the Christmas Stocking Lottery - had members on Broadway and at the A&P Show selling tickets, and all tickets sold. On Monday, December 7, the lottery was drawn and we were delighted to announce that the first prize was won by Levina Selby of Stratford, with the second prize won by Deborah Heffernan of Wellington. We wish both winners a very happy Christmas.
Again, a big thank you to all those individuals and businesses that provided funds or goods for the Christmas Stocking Lottery. Without your generosity, this project could not be achieved. The proceeds will be distributed within the community.
You may have noticed the Lions assisting at the A&P Show with parking and gates. This has become a significant project and requires all hands on deck to get the job done. Look out for the Lions Caravan at Summer Nights on 15 January - we'll have the BBQ humming, and our Charity Golf Tournament will be held on 23 January.
Social events are important and over November and December we've enjoyed a Progressive Dinner and the President's BBQ. These events are looked forward to each year.
