Yet another "touch and go" meeting for Stratford Speedway with rain right up until 5pm but then the clouds separated we began our last meeting for the season.

Stockcars competed for the King of the West Championship and the Streetstocks for the Mountain Classic with supporting classes of Adult Ministocks, Saloons and Midgets.

With the track surface a little muddy, the Saloons went out before racing started and had a race pace wheel pack to sweep the top layer of slush to the wall which eventually gave us an excellent track for racing.

10 Streetstocks took to the track for the first heat in the Mountain Classic with Adam Young (42s) taking the win, Richard Kettle (888s) 2nd and Steve Reed (99s) in 3rd.

The next race saw these three drivers try their hardest to gain highest points with Richard taking the win, Adam in 2nd place and Paul Blinkhorne (55s) taking 3rd. Going in to the third heat, Adam and Richard were both tied on 17 points with Paul on 16. The last heat had some carnage with Richard being put hard into the wall which broke his fuel pump and resulted in him retiring from the race. Gordon Fowler (15s) and Steve Reed (99s) joined Richard on the infield while Ben Pennington (14s) took the win with Paul in 2nd and Karl Jackson (28s) taking 3rd.

Paul won the Mountain Classic title with 25 points, Adam finished in 2nd place overall with 23 points and Ben Pennington (14s) finished in 3rd on 22 points.

Stockcars King of the West title started with a field of 19 cars and the races were going to be a good show for the crowd with friendly "paybacks" from throughout the season needing to be finished at the last meeting.

The first race had crowd pleasing hits including Damo Hiestand (762s) driving Anton Scherrer (55s) up the wall in spectacular fashion although failing to stop Anton from racing.

The second race had hard hits being dished out and a pile-up going into turn 2. Going into the third heat Shane Hurliman (79s) was leading with 36 points, Jayden Meyer on 34 and Mark Duthie (32s) had 29. Bevin Phillips put a couple of massive hits on Mark Duthie, pushing him hard up the wall in turn 2 which brought on the red lights.

Damo Hiestand (762s) was leading this race right up until the restart but had problems getting moving once the green came back on. After Damo lost the lead, Kylee Symes (229s) drilled him into the wall at the top of the track before Monty Good (56s) aided Damo to the finish line taking 5th and 6th places respectively. Shane Hurliman won the title overall on 53 points, followed by Jayden Meyer with 52 points and 3rd place went to Tyler Walker (33s) on 49.

Supporting classes for the night were Superstocks, Midgets, Adult Ministocks and Saloons.

It has been a great season with much excitement, some brilliant driving and huge achievements throughout the Club. Thank you to everyone involved with making this such a successful season for Stratford Speedway and we hope to see you all again in October.

Good luck to all drivers who still have a couple of race meetings left before their off-season starts.
