Local students from enviroschools in the area visited Pukeiti on March 21 for a regional event named He Whenua He Tangata He Oranga.
Students from enviroschools in Taranaki, including Matapu, Marco, Toko and Stratford Primary Schools as well as Te Kura o Nga Ruahine Rangi, made up nearly half of
the 150 students who spent the day exploring the Pukeiti rainforest environment.
The day helped them connect with and learn from each other and the facilitators of the day.
The day has the potential to become an annual event co-ordinated by the Enviroschools Foundation, says Rachel Eckersley, regional co-ordinator for Taranaki Enviroschools.
Parininihi ki Waitotara (PKW) was the major sponsor of the day.
