The Stratford Parent's Centre has been given an opportunity to "share the love" thanks to the Spark Foundation - the charitable organisation for Spark New Zealand
In the lead up to Valentine's Day, the foundation asked everyone at Spark New Zealand to nominate a group, cause or organisation that could
benefit from the gift of a new foldable bike.
Stratford parent, Catherine Tempero, who works for Spark, nominated the Stratford Parent's Centre, suggesting the group could then make the bike available to the local community as a "loan bike".
Catherine's vision, that parents without their own bike could borrow it to accompany their children on bike rides, was the winning entry, and the bike was officially handed over to the local group at their committee meeting on Thursday, March 5.
Catherine says that because the bike is foldable, it can fit in most cars, meaning families can get out of town to enjoy bike rides further afield.
