Break-in leaves mess for salon

Jaimie says the thieves grabbed a range of items from throughout the salon, throwing other items on the floor as they searched for valuables.

A break-in over the weekend has left a Stratford hairdressing business with a big mess to clean up.

"The mess in the salon itself was annoying, but we got it all cleaned up over the weekend. The bigger mess is not knowing who has appointments when, as the thieves took our computer which has our booking software on it."

Jaimie Bertie, owner of Suede Hair By Design, says they are having to rely on clients letting them know what they have booked in.

"Luckily lots of our clients follow us on Facebook, so we were able to get a message out quite quickly, asking people to let us know when they were booked in and what they were having done. We are asking everyone to call or message us so we don't miss any appointments."

When Lena Wilton came to work on Saturday morning, she saw the glass front door had been smashed.

"She went inside and saw lots of stuff on the floor, and obviously lots of things were gone," says Jaimie. As well as their computer, clippers were taken and cash.

"All three of us who work here were surprised the thieves hadn't grabbed some of the other items we have in the salon, and some of the things taken were quite random like my glasses."

Jaimie and her team are now getting on with business as usual.

"We have such supportive clients who have been understanding as we refill our appointment book."
