More than 200 sailors will take part in a youth sailing regatta this weekend in memory of the late Sir Peter Blake, who died a year ago.
The inaugural Sir Peter Blake Memorial youth regatta will be held today and tomorrow at North Shore's Torbay Sailing Club, just metresaway from the America's Cup course.
"A lot of top New Zealand sailors, including Sir Peter Blake, learned to sail in these boats," said event publicity officer Nigel Hendy. "So we asked Lady Pippa if we could name the event in his honour."
More than 200 will compete in all youth classes, including New Zealand's secret weapon, the P Class.
New Zealand's top youth sailors will take part because this also has points ranking for Olympic selection.
It is hoped Lady Pippa will attend the prizegiving tomorrow. Racing starts at 9.30am today.
