New Zealand is still on target to enter a Star yachting crew at the Olympics Games following more consistent sailing from Rohan Lord and Andrew Taylor at the world championships off Gaeta, Italy this morning.
Lord and Taylor were 24th in the third race, dropping one place from seventh to eighthoverall in the 118-strong field.
At the halfway stage of the regatta they are on 44 points, well off the 11 of Swedish leaders Frederik Loof and Anders Ekstrom but that is not of major concern to the New Zealand pair.
If they can hold their current position they qualify New Zealand for one of the four spots remaining to complete the field at the Athens Games in August.
Meanwhile, all sailing was cancelled at the ranking regatta at Hyeres, France overnight due to gale force winds and huge seas.
Positions subsequently remain unchanged, with Tom Ashley still first in the Mistral class, Europe sailor Sarah Macky third, Hamish Pepper seventh in the Laser field and Dean Barker 10th in his Finn.
In 470 racing, Simon Cooke and Alastair Gair remain seventh with Andrew Brown and Jamie Hunt 16th in men's competition while Shelley Hesson and Linda Dickson are 13th in the women's field, six places ahead of Melinda Henshaw and Jan Shearer.
The Yngling crew of Sharon Ferris, Joanna White and Kylie Jameson dropped from sixth to 15th place overall after being disqualified from the race they won yesterday.
