New Zealand sailors yesterday secured two more Olympic berths for next year to lift the country's yachting representation to seven crews for the Athens Games.
The final day of the world championships in Cadiz, Spain, saw the Laser (Andrew Murdoch) and the 470 women's crew add their classes to the Gamesqualification list.
That left the country's tally at seven out of a possible 11 classes who have secured early qualification for the Games.
All is not lost for the remaining classes. The Tornado, 49er, Star and Yngling have one last chance to qualify at a select regatta which differs for each class next year.
Laser sailor Andrew Murdoch was the standout New Zealander yesterday, finishing ninth in the final race to end seventh overall.
Murdoch narrowly missed out on individual Olympic nomination, finishing just four points behind the five-place cutoff.
