Yachting: Race leader becalmed

Round the world yacht race leader ABN Amro One are in danger of being overtaken 943 nautical miles from the finish of the fourth leg from Wellington to Rio de Janeiro.

Last night, ABN Amro One were sitting helplessly with no wind, while their opposition charged along. Pirates of the Caribbean had closed to within 19 miles of ABN Amro One, with ABN Amro Two a further three miles back.

The leaders are expected to reach Rio de Janeiro on Friday.
