New Zealand sailor Sarah Winther improved to sixth after the second day of qualifying at the Olympic Laser Radial World Championships in Brazil today (NZT).
Winther posted a fifth and a seventh in the regatta's fifth and sixth races today to trail leader Paige Railey, of the United States, whohad a sixth and a second.
New Zealand's other entry in the regatta, Jo Aleh, is 22nd, despite a 12th and an 11th today.
In the men's fleet, Blair McLay is 15th overall, with Max Andrews further back in 22nd place after six races.
A total of 165 competitors from 39 countries are competing in the regatta.
