New Zealand emerged through the repecharge to win the bronze medal at the Optimist world team yachting championship in Switzerland yesterday.
Represented by Paul Snow-Hansen, Carl Evans, Luke Deegan, Jason Saunders and Daniel Willcox, New Zealand beat defending champions Poland in their first race of the regatta before losing twiceto move into the repecharge where they beat Great Britain and Italy to finish third.
Argentina, four-time champions previously, regained the title, but they only just beat New Zealand in their race.
