New Zealand yachties picked up two medals in the Sail Melbourne ISAF Grade One regatta over the weekend.
Jon-Paul Tobin finished second on the new RS:X windsurfing board, and Aaron McIntosh and Bruce Kendall finished third in the Tornado class.
Although Tobin had just one race win throughout the 11race series, consistency and a second place in the final medal race was enough for him to retain the second placing.
The Netherland's Casper Bouman won the regatta, beating Tobin by nine points. Auckland's David Robertson finished fourth.
The regatta was the first officially recognised regatta for the new Olympic board and attracted 35 sailors from 11 different countries. A number of those sailors will compete in New Zealand at the national championship this month and at Sail Auckland in early February.
In the Tornado class, McIntosh and Kendall finished third, two points behind silver medallists Leigh McMillan and Will Howden of Britain.
Former World and European champion Darren Bundock won the class despite having to find a replacement crewman after Glenn Ashby was injured midway through the regatta.
In other New Zealand results, Geoff Woolley and Mark Overington finished fourth in the 470 class and Jake Bartom and Craig Prentice finished fourth in the 49er class, two places ahead of fellow New Zealanders Scott Kennedy and Scott Illingworth.
Sara Winther, the only New Zealander in the female Laser Radials, finished seventh in an 18-boat fleet.
The other Kiwi to place inside the top 10 was Adrian Mannering, who was sixth in the OK dinghy.
