New Zealand yachtsmen Murray Thom and Mark Orams won their classes at the Laser Masters Worlds in Brazil.
Thom, competing in the Laser class, won seven of the 10 races he competed in, finishing second in two and sixth in the other.
The New Zealander had such a big leadon the field that he didn't need to race after the ninth event but went out in race 10 and won anyway.
He finished 11 points in front of Australian Peter Conde, with American Kurt Miller third.
It was the first time Thom had won a world championship.
"It is a very gratifying victory after facing so many challenges. In December I will get back to Fortaleza with my son because he will probably participate in the Radial Youth Championship," he said after the victory.
Orams won the Radial apprentice title with seven wins and three seconds. He finished three points ahead of Stephen Cockerill of Britain, with Brazil's Carlos Eduardo Wanderley third.
