Yachting: Coutts wins Toscana Elba Cup

Russell Coutts produced a major comeback to win the third annual Toscana Elba Cup in Italy. The Alinghi skipper defeated Australian Peter Gilmour 2-1 to win the fifth event in the Swedish Match Tour and $68,000.

At the end of racing on Friday Coutts and his crew were last in the field of 12 with 1 win and 5 losses. But five consecutive wins on the final day of the round robin saw Coutts advance to the quarter-finals where he beat Bertrand Pace before dismissing fellow New Zealander Gavin Brady in the semis and then Gilmour.
