Oracle BMW Racing helmsman Gavin Brady needs just one more win over fellow New Zealander Russell Coutts to get to the final of the Toscana Elba Cup in Italy.
After a horrid start to the Swedish Match Tour regatta Coutts won five straight round-robin matches and stormed into the quarter-finals.
Coutts, theAlinghi skipper, then defeated former Team New Zealand tactician Bertand Pace 2-1.
Brady, who won the round robin with a 10-1 record, now leads Coutts 2-1 in the best-of-five semifinal.
The winner of match will square off in the final against Australian Peter Gilmour, who beat Poland's Karol Jablonski in the other semifinal.
