Australians Lindsay Irwin and Andrew Perry look set to become the International 14 world champions.
With just one race to go in the series, the Australian national champions have an 11-point lead over Britain's Steve Morrison and Ben Rhodes.
Irwin and Perry picked up their third win off Takapuna yesterdayin what were possibly the best conditions of the regatta so far.
In a steady southerly breeze, the Australians switched sides of the course from left to right on the first beat and rounded the first mark in fourth place, before slowly weaving their way to the front of the 83-strong fleet.
Three of the top four crews are British. Alister Richardson and Ian Baker are third with 21 points, one ahead of fellow countrymen James Fawcett and Dave Dobrijevic.
Former Team New Zealand sailors Dan Slater and Nathan Handley, in sixth place with 39 points, remain the best-placed Kiwi crew.
The last of the seven races is scheduled for today at 3pm.
