Man dies after car crash involving Venus Williams - report

Florida police say tennis star Venus Williams was in a car crash earlier this month with reports that a man later died following the incident.

Palm Beach Gardens police Maj. Paul Rogers confirmed to The Associated Press today that Williams was involved in a crash on June 9.

He said the crash is under investigation, but declined to give further details.

However according to website TMZ, 78-year-old Jerome Barson suffered head trauma in the crash and died two weeks after the incident.

"(Williams) is at fault for violating the right of way of (the other driver)," the police report allegedly said, according to TMZ.

Williams is the 10th seed at Wimbledon which begins on Monday NZT.
