In a match that took just 41 minutes, top-seeded Gustavo Kuerten of Brazil beat No 14 Goran Ivanisevic of Croatia 6-2, 6-1 in the third round of the Tennis Masters Series in Cincinnati.
Kuerten, the French Open champion, broke Ivanisevic in the third game. Ivanisevic, the Wimbledon champion, had won nineconsecutive matches but was again unable to handle Kuerten, who has won four out of the five times they have met.
Pat Rafter and Tim Henman are also through to the quarter-finals.
