Soccer: Veron quits Manchester United

Argentine soccer midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has walked out on Manchester United, according to a report in the News of the World. The newspaper said Veron was involved in a bust-up with team-mates after United's Champions League elimination against Bayer Leverkusen last week, and had flown to Rome with his family.

The newspaper quoted a close friend of Veron as saying: "Sebastian is fed up with being blamed for everything and is extremely angry at the treatment he has received at the hands of some United players."

Veron joined United from Lazio for a British record £28 million ($93.2 million) last July.
