But it was Shivlyakov who stole the show.
The 37-year-old Russian — wearing a beret, a tip to his time in the Navy as a Marine sailor — aimed to complete a deadlift of nearly half a ton.
However, the strain of it all became too much, as midway through the immense display of strength, Shivlyakov's nose began to pour with blood.
With the blood cascading down his face, the brave Russian managed to soldier on and incredibly completed the lift.
Shivlyakov trudged away triumphantly, mopping the blood from his face with a towel.
However, the stunning lift did not win the event.
Hafthor Bjornsson, known by many as "The Mountain" on hit TV show "Game Of Thrones," completed a world-record deadlift of 472kg.
