Coach Wayne Pivac will take Fiji to next year's rugby World Cup in France.
Speculation regarding his future with Fiji was laid to rest after a lengthy Fiji Rugby Union board meeting in Suva last night.
"After looking at both the Pacific 5 Nations and the Australian tour reports, the
board decided that Pivac's contract would not be terminated," FRU chairman Keni Dakuidreketi said.
"And his performance will now be monitored closely on a monthly basis by the board.
"Pivac has to give a written report on his build-up plans for the World Cup."
The former Auckland NPC coach was delighted to have overcome this hurdle.
"I can look forward to doing my job now," Pivac said.
The coach will meet with his three selectors later this week to try and confirm a 65-member training squad for the World Cup.
He has hinted that a handful of players from New Zealand provincial teams will be named.
Auckland utility Isa Nacewa and former Waikato prop Deacon Manu are on the top of Pivac's wish list for the World Cup.
