Laulala battles hamstring problem

There are several injury concerns for Canterbury ahead of Saturday night's Ranfurly Shield defence against Otago in Christchurch.

Andrew Ellis and captain Corey Flynn are both nursing rib injuries, while Casey Laulala is still battling the hamstring injury he suffered in the win over Southland.

Coach Rob Penney says they will not know about Laulala until later in the week, but everyone else is in reasonable shape and they are working through Flynn's rib problem.

Canterbury will name its starting lineup on Thursday.
