Former Canterbury, Crusaders and All Black loose forward Scott Robertson has been appointed Canterbury assistant coach for the this year's ITM Cup campaign.
Robertson's appointment follows the promotion of fellow former All Black Tabai Matson from assistant coach to head coach.
Robertson is no stranger to the Canterbury team, havingspent the past four years as assistant forwards coach.
He has also been coaching the Sumner Rugby Football Club's senior team for several years.
Matson said he was keen to work with Robertson over the coming season.
"We have played together and coached together successfully in the past, so I believe it will be very easy for Razor (Robertson) to step up to this role. It is a huge advantage already working together and knowing we have a good coaching chemistry.
"Razor is an exceptionally talented coach and we are lucky to have him on board," Matson said.
Matson and Robertson have already started preparing for the ITM season, which kicks off for Canterbury on August 24 with a game against Tasman in Nelson.
Robertson said he was happy to get stuck in and anticipated an exciting season ahead.
"As coaches, we're blessed with an amazing talent pool of players here in Canterbury. So I know that we are going to end up with another outstanding Canterbury team and some thrilling footy to watch," Robertson said.
