Loose forward Hoeata joins Taranaki

Versatile Canterbury loose forward Jarrad Hoeata will play his rugby in Taranaki next season.

Hoeata played in Canterbury's successful Ranfurly Shield defence against Marlborough this season.

His path to a regular spot in the Canterbury team was blocked by current or former All Blacks Reuben Thorne, Sam Broomhall, Richie McCaw and Mose Tuiali'i.

Taranaki Rugby Football Union chief executive Paul Easton announced Easton's signing for three years today.

Hoeata, 22, a Crusader development player last year when he also played for Canterbury B, has played in all three loose forward positions as well as lock.
