Former All Black sidelined with knee injury

Former All Black Bruce Reihana, who now plays in England, has been sidelined from rugby for the rest of the year with a knee injury.

Reihana, 30, captain of the Northampton Saints, was injured in a tackle 10 minutes into his team's loss to Gloucester on Saturday, the BBC reported today.

The fullback will have an operation on Thursday.

"The prognosis for the injury was better than we thought but it will need surgical intervention," Saints medical director Cliff Eaton said.

The former Waikato and Chiefs utility back last played here in the NPC in 2002.
