Fans have urged the Welsh and Scottish Rugby Union to donate a percentage of the Wales v Scotland profits to the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation threatening to boycott the match.
The clash, which will see the two rivals play for the Doddie Weir Cup donated to raise awareness for thefoundation and Motor Neurone Disease at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Saturday, is expected to net £3million (NZD$5.9 million).
The foundation was established by former Scotland international Doddie Weir, who suffers from Motor Neurone Disease, with his story warming the hearts of many in the rugby community.
However, Wales Online reported that the charity will not receive any of the profits from the match.
The decision has angered fans and broadcasters alike with some calling for a boycott of the match on social media calling the Unions to reconsider their stance.
The Doddie Weir Cup next weekend in Cardiff. No gate receipts are being paid to the Doddie Weir MND foundation even though they are using his name to ensure there's more attendance
Feel that both the @WelshRugbyUnion & @Scotlandteam could both put some money in the pot to help the @MNDoddie5 with a cash injection as well as supporting by naming the Cup. No doubt many fans having their own say! Update from the foundation belowhttps://t.co/1F04pZqRXa

How can you play a rugby match for the "Doddie Weir Cup" and give not a penny to the Doddie Weir fund? Eh, @Scotlandteam ?
"If the unions want the game to have a broader, deeper relevance, there is an easy, and right, thing to do: join the fans in digging deep. Give Weir a slice of the gate," wrote Scottish journalist Mark Palmer in the Sunday Times.
Broadcaster Sonja McLaughlin commented that she's "falling out of love with rugby right now, a sport seemingly obsessed with cash over everything".
The Wales Rugby Union are reportedly disappointed by the criticism and remain adamant that involving the foundation was done so with the best intentions.
They will be hosting a pre-match dinner on the eve of the match and will heavily advertise the foundation around the stadium with bucket collections on gameday.
