Rugby: South African lock banished on racism charges

Lock Geo Cronje has been expelled from South Africa's World Cup rugby training squad after allegations of racism.

The forward was removed from the training group after it was alleged that he refused to room with a black member of the squad.

A spokesman for governing body SA Rugby confirmed that they had been notified of allegations of racism and that Cronje had been removed from the squad until they could be investigated.

The Cape Argus said the 23-year-old Blue Bulls player declined to share a room, bathroom, toilet or shower with mixed lock Quinton Davids.
