NRL: Warriors keen on Eels speedster for 2016

The Warriors are keen on securing the services of Parramatta Eels speedster Reece Robinson as the club looks to bolster their outside back stocks ahead of the 2016 season.

With no less than 11 players set to leave at the end of the current season, both coach Andrew McFadden and managing director Jim Doyle have made it clear they are looking for players with experience to help foster the development of the club's younger emerging players.

With 112 NRL games under his belt, Robinson fits that description, having started his career with the Brisbane Broncos in 2008, and playing five years with the Canberra Raiders before linking with the Eels this season.

"We're looking at what players are out there and what players are available and certainly one of the players we have discussed is Reece Robinson but there's nothing finalised or anything at this point in time," said Doyle.

"We're always looking for players to give us depth in our squad with experience. One of the things that we're constantly balancing is that edge and experience.

"We've got some good young talent and we've got to surround them with experience. We believe we've got an extremely good 17 to 19 players, but it's a tough game, and we get injuries and we've got to make sure that when we do get injuries we've got good experienced players that can come in rather than throwing too many young ones in."

Doyle also reiterated his support for McFadden, after a report out of Australia overnight implied the Warriors mentor was the NRL coach most under pressure to retain his job, following his side's late season slide into four straight defeats.

"We're comfortable with our coach and nothing has changed from our perspective," said Doyle.

"Obviously we were disappointed with our last couple of losses but we know we've got lots of injuries to our playmakers so we're comfortable that we're going to keep moving forward with our coach into next year and we'll help him get success."
