Junior Kiwis coach Tony Benson expects a more cohesive and skilful display in Saturday's second league test against Australian Schoolboys in Porirua.
The Junior Kiwis lost 14-4 at North Harbour Stadium on Saturday in wet and windy conditions, scoring one try to Australia's three.
Benson said the first test was
a huge ask for both sides.
"It was always going to be tough, with just four days together beforehand. Our side showed lots of heart, but I'm expecting more cohesion and better skills this week."
Wests Tigers prop Sam Moa will miss the second test for the Junior Kiwis after injuring his knee in Saturday's physical game. He is expected to be out for six weeks.
The Junior Kiwis have watched video analysis of the first test and are confident of levelling the series.
"Our go-forward was not the problem because we spent a lot of time in their 20-metre line, but we need to work on creating tries from there," Benson said.
"Their tries were all scored out wide in the same way, so we are confident we can work on stopping those."
