Queensland police confirmed officers removed two men from the stadium following the altercation.
“On Sunday, May 17, two men aged 21 and 27 were escorted from the venue following an altercation and were directed to move on,” a spokesperson said.
Almost 150,000 fans attended the weekend’s eight NRL matches at Suncorp Stadium, with police largely pleased by the behaviour of supporters.
“Police thank the majority of the public for being considerate and respectful towards others.
“Between May 14 and 17, there were 16 evictions, 20 move-on directions issued, and eight arrests made.”
While the incident may have slightly dampened the occasion, Warriors fans were otherwise praised for the atmosphere and energy they brought to the venue.
Despite the match being played at the Broncos’ home ground, Brisbane were the designated away side and were met with loud boos during the team run-on, while the Warriors received strong vocal support.
It is estimated that between 8000 and 10,000 Warriors supporters travelled from New Zealand for the event. The National Rugby League reported this year’s Magic Round was its biggest yet in terms of attendance and engagement.
More than $113,000 was also raised through the “Kick for a Cause” initiative, with proceeds set to be distributed among 11 leading paediatric cancer centres across Australia and New Zealand.
